We offer a wide variety of workshops for the first-time job seeker or the seasoned professional. The workshops are free of charge. Check out this month’s workshop schedule or contact our offices at (203) 867-4030 x 210 for a current listing. Here are examples of some recently offered workshops.
     
Computer Skills & Career Assessment
This computer based career exploration program provides comprehensive occupation, education, training and financial aid data, it relates interests and skills to career options and provides tools for career planning. The skills assessment can test competency levels in over 200 specific areas, including spelling, bookkeeping, legal and medical terminology and many software applications. A print out allows you to "Prove It" when applying for a job with skill specific requirements.

Ex-Offenders Programs
Learn about special programs available and how to answer those difficult questions when re-entering the job market.

Internet Job Search
Deciding where to begin your job search can often be overwhelming. This workshop will assist you with navigating the Internet to maximize your job search. We will direct you to web sites, which contain valuable up-to-date job postings and advice, potentially putting your next job at your fingertips.

Interviewing I & II
Covers what interviewing is and is not, the various types of interviews, preparing for the interview and how to handle those "tough" questions. Interviewing II will give job seekers a chance to role play in the form of mock interviews and get immediate feedback from "interviewers".

Interviewing Strategies
Interviewing strategies will help you get over the first awkward experience with your potential employer. In this session we cover what interviewing is and is not, the various types of interviews, preparing for the interview, how to handle the interview process and those "tough" questions. Job Application Basics
Filling out a job application properly may mean the difference between being offered an interview or being overlooked for another candidate. Learn the correct way of increasing your chances for an interview.

Job Search Strategies
Planning your job search carefully can get you the result you want as quickly as possible. This session will give an overview of job search strategies - telephone skills, networking the hidden job market and interviewing tips. There's advice everyone can use.

Resumes (Basic & Advanced)
If this is the first time you are putting together a resume-this is the workshop to attend. If you already have a resume and are interested in fine-tuning it, don't miss this informative workshop. Resumes & Cover Letters A good resume is the key to unlocking new opportunities, and a good cover letter can get you an interview. This session will cover basic resume preparation, how to deal with gaps or background problems, and how to get your resume noticed! This also covers the art of cover letters. Stress Management
Learn easy ways to short circuit the stress response. Everyone experiences stress, its part of living; however, we can reduce its impact on our lives. Learn totally free and easy tricks to improve your life.

Time Management
This session will examine what your time is worth, important vs. urgent uses of time, and strategies for productive use of time towards your goals.
